FIRST EDITION. 4to; 302pp; dark olive cloth over board, title gilt-stamped on front, blind-stamped borders and label; author's signature on ffep dated "30 Sept, 1924"; pictorial vignette to title-page; 72 plates with photographic illustrations; b&w drawings in text; unclipped pictorial dust jacket without price, light damp staining to fore-edges, closed tear at foot of spine at front joint; fine in very good plus dj. Wallace Nutting (1861-1941) was a New England Congregational minister and noted photographer and artist. He bicycled for his health and it was on these rides that he embarked on his lifelong quest to photograph his magnificent and historic New England surroundings. Maine Beautiful is a print and photographic love affair with the state of Maine.
