A properly deaccessioned institutional duplicate with bookplate on front pastedown and two small stamps (all marked 'withdrawn'). Apart from that, a fine copy in matching cloth slipcase. First edition of this study of the competition and circumstances surrounding D.B. Updike's greatest commission. One of 285 copies printed by A. Colish, with typography by Jerry Kelly. This copy has bound in an original vellum leaf from the edition, that being pp.209/210.
