About This Item

London England: B. T. Batsford Ltd, 1977. These charming miniatrue toys and dolls, so exquisite, yet so simply made, will delight any child from the age of three to adulthood!. Many are well-known characters from nursey rhymes and fairy tales, others - dolls and animals - are familiar friends. Most involve movement and characterization, and other have removable clothes, thus affording endless possibilities for play. Safe and resilient in design, they are all economically made from household odds and ends - cardboard, sponge, decorative paper, cotton wool, shoelaces, pipe cleaners, oddments of material - and require little dressmaking or handicraft skill. Each stage is described in detail with explanatory diagrams, while over 120 individual actual-size patterns are provided to be traced off the page and cut out straightaway. Every toy is illustrated, and suggestions are given for changing the details of fabrics and features to produce many different characters from each basic idea. All it takes is a little imagination and a sense of fun to create a fairy-tale world of colourful toys. 120 pages. 6 colour photographs. 48 black and white photographs. 128 line drawings. Previous owners initials and a tiny dot in pen to inside cover. Tiny dent to front of cloth. Very slight shelf wear to top edge and top corners of D/J.. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Hardback.
