About This Item

[Pulp] Hammett, Dashiell. The Maltese Falcon. New York: Pocket Books, 1945. First edition, sixth printing. Number 268 in the Pocket Book collection. Illustrated soft covers with dustjacket capturing Brigid O'Shaughnessy disrobing while a shadow of a man appears in the foreground. The tagline reads "Sam Spade searched each article of the girl's clothing...Color flushed her face...". In true Hammett fashion, the novel centers upon true crime, obsession, and mystery, as portrayed by protagonist, Sam Spade. Dashiell Hammett is often hailed as "the dean of the 'hard-boiled' school of detective fiction" and the mystery genre. After being a detective for years, he implemented many of his experiences within his novels. Dustjacket is minorly chipped on lower part of spine and has two 1/2 inch tears on top spine. Pages are clean and bright, in very good condition.
