Clinton L. Hare was an early football coach at Butler University (1887-1889), Purdue (1890) and DePauw University (1891). A quite lovely set of this charmingly illustrated edition. . Overall an attractive set of eighteenth century bindings. Previous owners bookplate on front paste downs.

The compartments with gilt ruled lines, flower and star designs and lettering. Decorative flower and leaf designs to both boards, within a wavy line border which is surrounded by multiple stars, within a ruled line border, all in gilt. Elaborate gilt tooled stars, flowers and decorative roll borders to the inner boards with off-white moire silk endpapers. All edges gilt.
