LONDON: EYRE AND SPOTTISWOODE, 1939 Cream cloth quarter binding with gilt titles to spine and blue cloth sides, 235 x 155 mm approx. Publisher's Blue endpapers, xvi + 258pp. Frontis + 14 full page plates, 14 Headpieces and 14 Tailpieces all as called for + Cowslip scrapper board illustration to reverse of dedication page. First Edition 1st Printing of "BB's" story told with skill and understanding of Manka's wanderings and of Foxy the marshland poacher's efforts to entrap him. VG (A little shelf dust soiling to cream quarter binding at head, and cloth a little dust soiled to extremities generally, no notable shelf wear. Slight fading to margins of end papers. No previous owner name or insc. Dust Jacket- Heavy shelf rubbing to extremities with chips/loss - up to 20mm x 50mm around head. A little general shelf soiling and foxing spots showing through to white of clouds on front panel/rear panel and flap folds. Now in a easily removable proprietary protective sleeve to which pieces of coloured paper have been inserted to mask the stark white of the backing paper, so as not to draw the eye on the book shelf.
