Boston: Congregational Publishing Society, 1872. Good. Boston: Congregational Publishing Society, [1872]. Reprint. 16mo (6.75" x 4.5"); 48pp. Limp green cloth cover with gilt lettering. Covers rubbed along edges with an 1.25" split along front joint from tail, shallow chipping at head, and some general smudging and soiling. Ownership inscription of Elias Dickerson of Whitneyville on cover and front free endpaper (the latter dated 1893). Opens flatly between gatherings with backing exposed between each, but binding is still holding. Occasional pencil marginalia, but text all legible.
Prefatory note mentions the stereotyped plates of the original edition (1869) had been destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire, giving opportunity to revise and improve the current edition for wider circulation.
