About This Item

UK,slim 8vo HB+dw/dj,1st edn,4th imp.[Orignal 1st impression Oct, 1984,followed by two impressions in November, and then the fourth - this issue - in December, 1984.] FINE/FINE.No owner inscrptn, but author's handwritten, blue ink felt-tip pen signature - without dedication - to front free endpaper, and no price-clip to dw/dj.Bright,crisp,clean,glossy,colour photographic author's portrait to front panel of dw/dj,with b/w+yellow lettering, yellow+white letters to spine/backstrip,rear panel with black text to a white panel of a Caine anecdote and his facsimile signature; with negligible shelf-wear,bumping, creasing to edges and corners - no nicks, tears or splits present. Both head+foot of spine/backstrip gently pushed with minimal reciprocal creasing.Top+fore-edges bright and clean - without blemish; contents bright, tight, clean, solid and sound - virtually pristine - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corner tips - would appear unread, apart from my own collation.Publisher's bright, crisp, clean and unblemished,sharp-cornered,original plain red cloth boards with bright, crisp, blocked gilt letters to spine and immaculate plain white endpapers - signature excepted. UK,slim 8vo HB+dw/dj,4th imp,9-224pp [paginated] includes January to December almanac of fascinating, bizarre, remarkable, true facts and feats, accompanied with 12 (one per month) full-page b/w cartoons by John Jensen,2pp on National Playing Fields Association charity and it's work - this book being specifically published in aid of the charity.Plus [unpaginated] Author SIGNED ffe,half-title+title pages, and author's introduction with his facsimile signature.
Michael Caine presents an entertaining and varied feast of fascinating facts and strange - but true - gems of information for every day of the year. For example, not many people know that Albert Einstein was once offered the Presidency of Israel but he refused it saying he had no head for problems.Or that the frankfurter originated in China.Or that one hundred and twenty drops of water are needed to fill a teaspoon.
Michael casts light on the more bizarre and remarkable facts and feats of every subject under the sun. From Grace Kelly, the first film actress to appear on a postage stamp,to Hungary, which exports more hippopotamuses than any other European country - and not many people know that!
The book was a popular bestseller, hence the several impressions!
