New York: R.F. Fenno & Company, 1902. The Canadian author [Sir] Gilbert Parker (1862-1932) had several best-selling novels; during World War I he was an effective propagandist for the Allies. He also had a political career. This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition. Red cloth binding with decoration in green, white, and gilt on the front cover; titling on the spine in gilt. Clean text; 133 pages, decorative endpapers Frontis illustration and six others within by W.E.B. Starkweather. Contemporary (1906) gift inscription on the FFEP; tiny bookseller label on the rear paste-down. Rubbing to the margins, heavier at the head and foot of the spine. No dustjacket. . First Edition. Decorative Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by W.E.B. Starkweather. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
