One of Prose's best works. Sadly it's been out of print for several decades and I haven't been able to find it anywhere until Biblio.com came to the rescue. The book gives a tangible feel to New Orleans near the end of the slave era and gives you a taste of the preeminence of Congo Square. Voudon practitioners will be pleased at Prose's depictions of both Laveau and the culture extant.
