On Apr 3 2020, a reader said:
The bullet splatted against the rock wall only an instant before he heard the report of the rifle, and with one smooth motion Jerry Knight pulled his pony to a halt, whirled him around, to face the unseen shooter...It all started in a crooked poker game run by Kelt Flecker, in fact everything Kelt did was crooked, and Jerry was determined to end Kelt's hold on the community. His losing at poker was a way to get Jerry onto Kelt's ranch so he could find out exactly what all was going on. William Colt MacDonald has succeeded again in creating a story that is well worth having. I have an Ace paperback from which I am writing this review, which was published in 1968--Ace G-746--a first book publication. 1968 was also the year Mr. MacDonald died.
