D. Appleton and Company, 1918. First Edition. Hardcover. 128 pages. 4-1/4 by 7 inches. Short novel about a young man's first visit and later wounding at the site of the Marne engagement in World War I. Wharton was active in raising funds and rallying American support for the War. First edition (first printing; publisher omitted the usual (1) on the last page of the first printing of this title). Quarter-bound with brown paper over green boards, with title in green ink. A very good copy lacking the scarce dust jacket. Some wear to the bottom corners, small indent on spine, and spine lettering a bit faded.
