London:: George Routledge and Sons,, 1872.. leather_bound. GOOD. Early edition without publication or printing date, but preface is dated 1872. One volume edttion, 690pp. This is a small attractive hardcover with light tan leather spine and corners, gold lettering and design, red/blue/tan marbled covers and matching endpapers and page edges. Cover has moderate wear; title bands are missing from spine indents show the author and title; hinges show slight creases but are sound. Pages are a little brittle; front free endpaper is missing; rear endpaper split at hinge. Pages have slight ripple; lightly tanned due to age.
