London: George G. Harrap, 1914. Coloured frontispiece, tinted illustrations throughout. 4to (9 1/4 x 6 3/4 inches), 175-pages. Original burgundy cloth blocked in gilt. Lower inner hinge cracked, but holding, last leaf and endpaper detached. Upper inner mrgin of frontispiece detached and creased. All the kitchen pots and utensils have human facial expressions- Auntie Rolling Pin, Toaster Man, etc. Having read and studied this work a studious girl will have learnt to cook 40 simple dishes. This would appear to be part of a series as the spine is lettered "Vol.1" although this volume is complete in itself. "A book for all girls who love to help Mother". Contemporary inscription on front free endpaper: "To Joyce from Mother and Daddy".
