About This Item

Nice condition copy of "A Masque of Reason" by ROBERT FROST with original dust jacket. 1945 1st edition, 1st printing (stated); Henry Holt and Company; New York. The dust jacket is un-clipped with the original $2.00 price intact on the front flap, and comes with a clear protective sleeve (not shown).

From the dust jacket: "This new poem by Robert Frost...is a literary event of major importance. In a Masque of Reason, Frost...is witty and charitable, mocking and affectionate, as many-faceted and sharp-edged as a diamond. He is at the same time detached and benevolent, ironic and warm-hearted - an attitude toward mankind that springs from his inexhaustible faith in the mind and spirit of the individual. Mr. Frost's flexible blank verse, heightened but never far from natural speech, sparkles with audacity and wit. The freshness and vitality of this play are communicated by the most casual reading. With each rereading the total import deepens and widens, for this extraordinary poem constitutes a still further range of the power, the imagination, and the technique of Robert Frost."

Condition:
There is a 1" thick strip along the left edge of the front cover where the navy blue cloth color has faded a bit. Clean back cover and spine. Sharp cover corners. Bright gilt lettering on the spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice interior - the pages are clean and appear unread with no issues found. Overall the book is in Very Good+ condition. The dust jacket is un-clipped with the original $2.00 price intact on the front flap; light soiling to the back cover; small tears at the top of the spine and at the top flap corners...overall the jacket is in Very Good- condition. (The dust jacket comes with a clear protective sleeve - not shown.)
