The cover is becoming loose and a previous owner's pencil signature can be found on the front flyleaf; The novel is set in the fictional Matorni Vineyard in the early 20th century. The story follows the intertwined lives of the Reynoldses, a family of wine growers, and the Vassals, a family of Italian immigrants. The Reynoldses and the Vassals are at odds with each other, but their conflicts are also the engine that drives the novel.; 8vo; 308 pages .
