London: Edward Moxon, 1855. First edition. Hardcover. g to g+. 8mo. 154pp. + 8 pages of publisher's ads at the front. Original green cloth boards with blind stamped design on covers with gilt lettering on the spine. Publishers ads in second state, dated "August 1855". The publication is a first edition, second issue printing of this acclaimed collection of poems by Tennyson, including the first appearance of "Charge of the Light Brigade", and was the first collection printed after becoming the poet laureate in 1850. Inscribed to the previous owner in ink at the the front free endpaper, after the ads. Binding with some sunning to spine and boards, with some bumping and rubbing to corners, edges and spine. Interior with some sporadic light water stains throughout. Starting at gutter of interior front cover, although the book block is tight overall. Binding in overall good, interior in good+ condition.
