About This Item
London: Methuen & Co. Ltd., 1967. First edition. Cloth. Fine/Fine. 8.5" by 5.5". None. A smart first edition of this powerful story of love, rejection, and religion. First edition. Breaking a long silence, an Englishman named Oliver writes to his elder brother Patrick to announce he has entered a Hindu monastery and is about to take the final monastic vows. Now Patrick, a successful London publisher and married man with skeletons in his closet, is coming to India to visit his brother. Written by Christopher Isherwood, an Anglo-American novelist, playwright, screenwriter, autobiographer, and diarist. In the original brown cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original unclipped dust wrapper is very smart with minor chipping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light age toning to the endpapers. Fine
