About This Item
Pacific, Missouri:: Mel Bay Publications, 1981.. Paper covers; spiral bound . BINDING/CONDITION: paper covers with a metal spiral binding; the covers (especially front cover) are ragged at the ends; Good condition.. about 12 inches tall by 10 inches wide . Description: From the foreword: ''All of the voices in a passage or progression, long or short, must be thought of as melodic lines that have to make harmonic sense and become musically believable, even though the lines may contain notational surprises. Logical harmonics need not be stodgy or trite. When the ear anticipates the motion of lines in a passage or resolution it doesn't mean that the selection was bad, it means that it was predictable. At times the ear is disappointed when the harmony does not go where the ear wants it to go, or wishes it to go. The logical, the predictable, the unpredictable, the expected, are all necessary formats for lasting construction; for the very essence of composition is the knack of artfully balancing them, and this is 'chemistry,' 'musical' chemistry..'' On the title page, the publisher states, ''In order to convey the accuracy and exactness in absolute terms of George's musical thoughts, we have included his original manuscript in this book and will do so in the third book. Study throughout the three books in this series will provide an absolutely incredible world of knowledge to any guitarist, or for that matter, any musician.''
