Providence, Rhode Island: H.H. Brown, 1831. Second Edition, revised and enla. Hardcover. Fair. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. Sherburne's memoir here is of his service in the Continental Navy in 1779 (at the age of 14), of his experience as a prisoner of war and eventual release and later career as a Baptist Minister. He was a P.O.W. in Mill prison in Plymouth, England, and makes acute observations about the voyages he made during the American Revolution. A perfectly serviceable reference copy of a hagiographic autobiography of the Reverend Andrew Sherburne and of his experiences during the Revolutionary War. Nothing fancy, but complete and sturdy. Stated Second Edition, revised and enlarged from the original. Full leather over boards, rubbing to, scuffing of, heavy scuffing to spine, including title over red leather label, with gilt ruling there. Heavy foxing to, toning of endpapers, cracking to front endpapers, else clean and unmarked of interior. Previous owner's bookplate inside front flap, below lovely ink-penned gift inscription. 312 pp. including Appendix.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
