London : Henry Colburn. Hardcover. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Two volumes bound in one.1818 Second ,1823 first edition. xii - 228 + iv - 318 pages. Some sporadic foxing to contents, the contents clean and tight with no inscriptions. Bound in circa 1860s 1/2 tan calf marbled paper covered boards. Spine in six compartments with ornate gilt tooling, with green title label. Some even fading to spine and edges, the binding clean and tight with no splits or chips. Half title present to the first part, no frontis to second part but not called for?. The last section is part IV of a 4-volume work. Chapters include Reflections on the Emperors letters, My Residence At The Cape, Passage To Europe, Voyage From The Thames To Frankfort, Residence In Germany, From My Arrival At Offenbach Up To My Return To France. Count de Las Cases, has to be considered the only person to actually profit personally from exile with Napoleon on St. Helena. Las Cases was the very first to publish an account of Napoleon's treatment on St. Helena.
