Memoirs by Fitzroy, Sir Almeric - 1925

New York, NY: George H. Doran Company. Good with no dust jacket. 1925. First Edition. Hardcover, Cloth. These two volumes complete the memoirs of Sir Almeric Fitzroy (1851 - 1935) . The memoir begins with a biographical note, with the actual dated entries beginning August 9th, 1898. This began with his appointment to the Clerk of the Council as head of the Administrative Staff. The memoirs discuss his work and family life during his 25-year occupation of this position. He served on many Committees and Royal Commissions, such as those on Physical Deterioration, Midwives, Venereal Disease, and the Dentist Act. His retirement due to age was announced at a council attended by the King as well as Council members. He retired June, 1923, ending his memoirs but recalling some of his best friends made during the 25 years of service. Vol. 1 has foxing on the half- and title page and a few pages in. Vol. 2 has a damp stain and moderate foxing on the frontispiece and title page. Some of the pages have not been opened, especially at the beginning of Vol. 1 and end of Vol. 2, where there is an index. The corners have light to moderate wear as do the spine ends. A blind stamp is seen on both volume covers; the spine of Vol. 1 is dappled in brown (covers are deep blue) . With 32 bright photographs. ; 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall .
