London: Martin Secker , 1924. This exposed the cruelty and depravity of life in that French army unit in 1916-17. Published after his death, were notable for igniting a long-running feud between D.H. Lawrence and Norman Douglas, who had been close friends of his. Both the book and the feud surrounding it touched on homosexuality and bisexuality in a way that could not legally be referenced at the time. CONDITION Black bds with crisp gilt title, 320 pages. toned to ends. Bds have speckling to edges with a small nick to rear, lightly toned to ends, note in pen to front ep stating rare book.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

Secker, 1924. First Edition. Hardcover. very good-/good+. The volume is bumped on the base of the front panel (near the spine), the corners, the spine ends, and has a small chip on the spine crown. The dust jacket has a darkened spine, a tape residue darkened area near the bottom of the front pane and spine, and is chipped at the spine ends and corners, has a small 1/4" x 1/2" hole in the middle of the spine, and a closed tear at the top and base (1" at the base) on the rear panel. The jacket is sleeved in mylar.
