About This Item
Norman Adlard & Co., Ltd., Ipswich, 1949. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 161 pages (complete). A steady copy of this memoir of the extraordinary Ruthven. When he retired from the Orient Line in 1911 he claimed that during his forty-five years at command, he had passed through the Port Phillip Heads 341 times and the Sydney Heads over 200 times. He also claimed never to have scraped the paint of one of his ships! The covers have wear from shelving and storage about the edges in particular. There is scuffing, mild marks. They are sound and sure. The contents are pleasingly convivial. They are clean, clear, genial, clear-minded, confident. fk. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services.
