Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: American Sunday-School Union, 1836. First Edition. Hardcover. Fair. 32mo - over 4" - 5" tall. An odd tale telling the highlights of the life of an unnamed man from Connecticut who fights against the British in the War of 1812. The War changes him, drains him of Christian faith, and he dies drunken and dissolute. A morality tale. A perfectly serviceable reference copy; nothing fancy, but complete and still relatively sturdy. Rubbed and mottled marbled paper over boards, scuffing to spine, tips, toning and foxing to interior, but clean and unmarked but for extensive penciled inscriptions at front endpapers, being of John B. Hayes. Dog-eared pages, torn first free endpaper. A solid reading copy. 69 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
