FIRST WARNER EDITION, 1758, 8vo, approximately 200 x 125 mm, 8 x 5 inches, pages: [4]-blanks, [2]-title page, i-xiv, MEMOIRS OF THE LIFE OF SIR THOMAS MORE, 1-156; THE HISTORY OF UTOPIA, [4], 1-230, plus 6 blank pages, (the History of Utopia is preceded by a divisional title page and an advertisement leaf and has separate pagination and register). Bound in full contemporary polished calf, gilt lettered morocco label and double gilt rules. Slight rubbing to binding 1 inch crack to foot of upper hinges, covers firmly attached, small chip to foot of spine, 1 margin has a closed tear just running into text, neatly repaired, no loss of text, a little pale age-browning, some letters on page 145 of the Life of More have been inked out, the missing words inked in margin, (he took his urinal in his hand, and casting his water) ......, pale staining to edges of pastedowns, otherwise a very good tight copy.
