About This Item

New York: The Viking Press, 1968. First Printing, First U.S. Edition. . Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. This is Marlowe's second novel, preceded by his bestselling "A Dandy In Aspic," a "memoir" written by an unnamed protagonist who is probably mad and certainly dead, a man doomed to love one lost girl and equally doomed to be the lover of hundreds of others. Previous owner's signature and '1973' in lower inside corner of front pastedown, o/w boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square; the dustjacket shows some surface and edgewear, including two small tears and minor chipping at the bottom of the spine but no significant flaws. A collectable copy of a hard-to-find title.
