London: Duckworth & Co, 1913. First edition and first printing. Hardcover. Coburn's first book of portraits. Features a long text by Coburn. A collection of 33 tipped in photogravure plates with facsimile signatures of the subjects. Includes images of George Bernard Shaw, G.K. Chesterton, George Meredith, H.G. Wells, August Rodin, Henry James, Theodore Roosevelt, W.B. Yeats, Mark Twain, Max Weber, Henry Matisse, and 22 others. A very good plus copy in cloth boards with some toning to the endpapers, the tissue guards have the usual toning and also have a number of tears, some creases, and wear. Lacking the scarce dust jacket. Signed and nicely inscribed by Coburn on the front free endpaper in 1944. Uncommon thus.

Books are subject to prior sale. Libraries, institutions, and accredited dealers in the United States can be sent books with invoice. All books noted as First Editions are also First Printings unless indicated otherwise. Books are returnable for any reason within 10 days provided they are returned in the same condition they were sent.
Biblio collects all sales taxes for the appropriate states.
