About This Item

WW Norton, 1984. 1st Edition Printing Unknown. Hardcover. New/As New. B&W era photos of Composers as chapter decorations. CONDITION: While this book has details of a first edition, it may also be a BOMC as it contains information about that as well. In short, I am confused and research has not helped. UNREAD 1984 WW Norton large hardcover (blue boards, about 3 lbs.) and dust jacket (PRICE CLIPPED), edition in dispute. The information is sorted by presenting the Composers alphabetically. Each Composer is represented by a small era B&W photo presented as chapter decorations. CONTENT: Whether for quick, pre-performance reference or an evening of browsing through favorite stories, this volume is an invaluable addition to every opera-lover's library. Here at last is the definitive opera story collection, the only one now authorized by the Metropolitan Opera. Written by the associate editor of Opera News magazine, the volume includes the complete plots of 150 different operas, biographical information on all of the 72 composers represented, easy access to the stories through both a table of contents and an index, and a foreword by Peter Allen.
