Australian War Memorial, Canberra, 1956. Reprint Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good/Poor Condition. Illustrator: Various. index; 68 illustrations, 42 diagrams and maps. Red coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Plaintext dustwrapper with black and white coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Describes the work of the Australian Medical Services, includes Bardia, Tobruk, Greece, Syria, el Alamein, Malaya, Singapore, Timor, Ambon, New Britain, Changi, The Burma Railroad and prisoner-of-war camps. Rubbing of the book edges with some chipping to the corners. Patchy fading to the book panels with the result of insect activity to be seen to the top right hand corner of the rear panel. Age toning and foxing of the text block edges with offset tanning and foxing to the end pages. Age toning of the pages themselves. The dust jacket has numerous tears, ranging in size from 0.25" to 4" to the front panel with just creasing and some small chipping along the lower edge of the rear panel. Rubbing of the dustwrapper panels, fold over creases and either side of the back strip. Fading of the back strip with handling marks to the rear panel.
