New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1917 In the Editor's Note which precedes the text, Percy Lubbock states that this work, dictated in 1914, "represent[s] all that Henry James lived to write of a volume of autobiographical reminiscences to which he had given the name of one of his own short stories. . .It was designed to follow on 'Notes of a Son and Brother' . . ." Spine and outer margins (about 1") of boards sunned; irregular light spotting to cloth along sunned area of front board. Moderate rubbing/fraying to head of spine; light rubbing to other extremities. Library marks limited to small spine sticker, bookplate affixed to inside front cover, and pocket strip at inside rear cover. Clean and tight.
