NY: Vanguard Press; (1960). First Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. First US edition of the author's second book. Fine in a near fine dust jacket. The jacket has a tiny closed tear at the top of the rear flap fold. 1959 copyright date on copyright page, but 1960 LoC Catalogue number. A clean, crisp copy with no names or other markings in the book and the publisher's price ($3.95) is present on the front flap of the jacket. Signed by the author on the title page
Synopsis
Miguel Street is a semi-autobiographical novel by V. S. Naipaul set in wartime Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. Naipaul wrote it while employed at the BBC using a BBC typewriter and "rustle-free paper. " Miguel Street won the 1961 Somerset Maugham Award.
