This true story first published in 1946 by Dahl tells the story of a Suffolk farmer who uncovered a hoard of Roman silver and was subsequently cheated out of that treasure. This edition has been beautifully illustrated by Ralph Steadman.

Synopsis

One of Dahl's only non-fiction books, The Mildenhall Treasure tells the true story of a ploughman who dug up a buried Roman treasure in the 1940's. The ploughman was entitled by law to the full amount of its market value, but a greedy neighbor took advantage of his situation. Illustrations by Ralph Steadman Intended for ages 9 and older
