About This Item

Monterrey, Mex: Consejo para la Cultura y las Artes de Nuevo León, 2009. b/w and color plates, ports., tbls., mus. notes, recipes, bios/chrons., bibl., color pict. wrps. This is the third of a series of 12 volumes to be published later and that represent the only compilation of the cultural intangible patrimony of the state of Nuevo León in northern México. This book documents the popular culture of folk arts, historic architecture, cooking, crafts, oral history, the festivities for religious patrons, dance and music (popular, religious and ritual), folklore, and literature of Mina. The extreme desert conditions of this municipality in the northeastern region of the state has produced a town full of mysticism, with important archaeological sites, history, folkart objects made of ixtle, the dried leaves of the lechuguilla (agave lechuguilla) and a particular gastronomy using native resources like candelilla (Euphorbia antisyphilitica) plants and goats. LIMITED EDITION OF 1000 COPIES.
