Text is clean and unmarked, binding tight. Dust jacket shows signs of wear with a tear, some dings and nicks etc. This is a story of the life and fate of the Miwok people, Indians who live in and around Yosemite in Central California. Their simple life was tuned upside down by he rush for gold in 1849 and their way of life which was in complete harmony with nature was destroyed as they were in the end. There was no starvation, wars, of weapons of war, they lived with and on the land not taking more than what was needed. Today there are few Miwok left, any visitor to Yosemite who marvels at its grandeur will understand why they choose to live there in simply harmony with each other.
