Tinted endpapers and textblock top edge, else leaves unmarked. Colour, pictorially-illustrated dustjacket nipped and edgeworn, plus jagged short tears and abraded folds, seller's sticker on front flap. The author, who lived with a poor Arab family in the world's oldest capital, Damascus, attempts to describe the city in its entirety . . .
