First American hardcover edition, with dust jacket, published by Knopf, 1988. Historical fantasy, set in the land known as 'Brychmachrye', in which Reynard tells the story of his life as Prince, King, and the treachery that led to his exile to a remote peasant village. 'Tom De Haan' was a pseudonym, used for this book and for its sequel 'The Child of Good Fortune', the identity of the author has not since been revealed. 6-1/2" X 9-3/4", 422 pages, sewn binding. Cream colored boards, with red cloth covered spine, and the author name and title imprinted on the spine in gold. Bottom edge of the cover boards show a few light bump marks. The dust jacket is intact, and is not price clipped, there is sun fading to the spine panel. Edges of the text block are clean. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Not a remainder, not a library discard. Sewn binding is tight and square. Attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.
