Red cloth over boards with contrasting grain patterns; gilt stamped on front cover with double egret device and the macaulay motto 'Dulce periculum'; gilt stamped titles and fancy strapwork patterns on spine; top edges gilt; untrimmed fore edges; 2 color title page; tissue-guarded frontispieces and many interior etchings; decoratice head and tailpieces. Bright, crisp, clean covers and spine; very slight rubbing/fading at spine end corners - no splits or fraying; tightly bound; owner bookplates on each front pastedown 'George Raymond Bunker'; interior is bright, crisp, clean - many leaves unopened at fore edges from front to rear of each volume - they have never been read. 12mo, 4041 total pages. Index in volume 10 for all volumes. Many illustrations. From the collection of Ellsworth Bunker (U.S. Ambassador to Argentina, Italy, India, Nepal, South Vietnam, Organization of American States, and twice recipient of U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom). Bookplates are that of Ellsworth Bunker's father.
