London: William Miller, 1806. Fifth Edition. . Half-Leather. Good. 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. 'The Miseries of Human Life, or the Groans of Samuel Sensitive, and Timothy Testy. With a few supplementary sighs from Mrs. Testy. In twelve dialogues.' This book was written as a series of discussions between Mr. Samuel Sensitive and Mr. Timothy Testy, in which they catalogue the daily "injuries, insults, disappointements and treacheries" of everyday life. Mrs. Testy offers the occasional female point of view. 1806 fifth edition. Boards with marbled paper, leather spine and corners, black label to spine with gilt titling, blindstamped and gilt decorations to spine, folded aquatint frontispiece, 334 pages plus pages of publisher's advertisement. Rubbing to boards, gutters split, small pieces missing at top of spine and along front gutter, front cover attached by cords only, previous owner's bookplate afixed inside front board, split to rear endpapers, some age darkening and very little foxing.
