About This Item
New York: Mysterious Press, 1985. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. One of the earlier novels by Spencer, who didn' t begin writing his satirical private eye mysteries until he was in his fifties. This one features Chicago P.I. Buzz Deckard, who has just been mugged in the parking lot of the Teddy Bear Lounge. Buzz spends a lot of time in bars. Just now he has a missing person to find. Of course his client has disappeared too and no one seems to be who or what they say they are. In fact, the man who'd hired Buzz wanted to murder the man who was threatening to kill the man who was trying to protect him from the man who'd hired Buzz. Now you know why Buzz drinks. If you like mysteries full of one-liners and inept detectives, welcome to Spencer's world. Corners are slightly bumped, o/w boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square, not remaindered. The dustjacket shows minor wear at the corners and spine ends but no tears, chipping or creasing. Not price-clipped. A collectable copy of an outright funny mystery.
