With an engraved frontispiece to each volume, and a publisher's advertisement catalogue to the end of Vol. I. Bound by Bowyer & Co. of Harrow Road, London, in near contemporary gilt-tooled red half-calf, marbled boards, contrasting black and brown morocco lettering-pieces, T.E.G. A trifle rubbed. Marbled endpapers, original publisher's cloth spine panels pasted to REPs, scattered foxing. The first edition of Frederick Marryat's (1792-1848) adventure novel for children centred around a young man's voyage to Africa in search of a missing relative. . First edition. 8vo.
