Illustrated with engraved frontis and 64 engraved plates. [7]-128 pp. 4to, original publisher's binding of embossed leather with gilt vignette by William Wilson of carpenters and an architect in the foreground and buildings in the background, gilt decorated spine, spine rubbed, owner's stamp to ffep, some browning to frontis piece, spotting to tissue guards and to some plates but mostly confined to margins or light spotting, on the whole very good. A handsome edition of Shaw's work on architectural elements. Edward Shaw was a prominent civil engineer and influential architect working in Boston during the mid 1800's . He designed various townhouses in Boston, including the Adam Wallace Thaxer, Jr. house on Beacon Hill. Shaw published five notable on architecture and structural materials.
