About This Item
Philadelphia / London: J. B. Lippincott / C. Arthur Pearson, 1902. Despite the fact that many booksellers seem to list the first edition of this important book as London, 1903, this copy is the actual First Edition published by Lippincott and dated 1902. As such it is exceedingly rare. Part of its identification is the fact that on the spine Neil is misspelled as "Niel." The book is historically important because it uses photography ro show hand motions for the various tricks and was the first book to do this. Our copy is solidly Good - it is basically tight - the red covers show the titles clearly on the front cover and a bit darkened on the spine. The spine also shows a few light scratches. The main defect is a 4 inch stain to the lower outer edge of the back cover - probably hit by some water. Within there is some foxing to all endpapers, also ocassional foxing elsewhere , and there is the bookplate of W. K. Rudolph, a magic book collector from Santa Ana, CA. Handsome gilt title and red cloth still bright. Hard Cover. Good/No Dust Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
