About This Item
London: J. Johnson (and 23 Others), 1805. Anglo-Irish author Maria Edgeworth (1768-1849), popular and melodramatic, was also an educational reformer; she is considered to be an important influence on the literature of her day. This is a Very Good (Minus) copy of the "Second Edition, Corrected." Full leather, polished calf binding, with seven gilt bands on the spine. Clean text; 203 pages, with one page of publisher's advert for the fourteen Edgeworth works published. Volume has a splay and the paste-down endpapers have been removed (Quercus does not speculate why). While the text is very bright, the Title Page has separated (it is still present). Perhaps a bit of repair would restore some dignity to this work. Size: 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. Second Edition.. Full-Leather. Very Good Minus/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
