The First UK printing published by Picador, London in 1999. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Light pushing at the spine tips and a hint of toning to the text-block. Internally clean. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The two authors have undertaken a wide-ranging survey of 50 years of fiction and provided a brief commentary on each of the 200 novels selected. The book has been signed (without dedication) by both authors to the title page. Additionally the book has been signed by 57 other authors at their contribution : 46 signatures are flat-signed and the remaining 11 are on tipped-in signed bookplates (Don DeLillo has signed an event ticket). The signatures include 4 Nobel Laureates and 14 Book Prize winners. A spectacular array of literary signatures. Some photos and event tickets are provided as provenance for a few of the signatures. The previous owner of this book had spent over a decade accruing these signatures at various literary events. Dame Carmen Thérèse Callil, DBE, FRSL was an publisher, writer and critic who spent most of her career in the UK.
