About This Item

Monasticon Anglicanum History of the Ancient Abbies and other Monasteries, Hospitals, Cathedral and Collegiate Churches in England and Wales. With Divers French, Irish and Scotch Monasteries Formerly Related to England by William Dugdale. Sam Keble and Hen(ry) Rhodes: London, MDCXCIII (1693)
A book on the clerical and ecclesiastical and religious orders of the Roman Catholic Church, probably prior to the Reformation. Includes fifteen (15) engravings (as called for) of religious clerics in their garb. Originally published in Latin in 1656.
Size, Binding: Medium folio, measuring 12x8x1" (30.5x18x2.5 cm). Later half-leather, probably circa 1900 with marbled end-papers. Looseness to the back board but holding.
Collation: Blank, title page (i), Dedication (iii-iv), To the Reader (v-viii), main text (1-331, numerous pagination errors but collates complete), Catalogue, General Table (unpaginated but ends with "Finis"). Complete.

Condition: Overall a very good example. Most of the pages have toning and foxing which is common with this book and some of the engravings impress on the flanking page. But no major tearing or chips to any of the pages.
