London: Herbert Jenkins Limited A very good copy of the 9th printing in good wrapper. The 9th printing is generally dated to 1935 - however this copy has 8 pages of adverts at the rear of which a couple of titles date to 1939. The wrap has Quick Service at 7/6 dating it to circa 1940 - so probably contemporary with the book. The book has a bright orange cloth binding with black titles. The spine is slightly cocked to the front with light pulling to spine ends. There is light rubbing to corners. The back board has a few very small white flecks. Contents are complete and very clean. The front free endpaper and half title page have a crease. Repaired bottom edge tear to p 279 and also to the final lea of adverts. The wrap is very clean and has a 5/- price sticker over the old 4/- price on the spine. There is fading to the spine and to panel edges with rubbing at the folds. Edges have some nibbling, edge tearing and old creasing, with small loss at the folds and some archive tape repair to stabilise.
