About This Item

Fantasy Press, 1951-01-01. Stated First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Hardcover, Stated First Edition (Currey Binding A), Fantasy Press, 1951, 256 pages. Very Good, in a VG DJ. Purple cloth boards with gilt titles - corners sharp. All pages are crisp, clean and unmarked. Previous owner’s stamp on inside front cover and FFEP. A touch of foxing to top of text block. Minor offsetting to endpapers. Very Good DJ shows minor shelf/edge wear with some foxing at edges and on reverse side of DJ- now in mylar. The story is a grim day to day record of thirteen scientists as they struggle with the hostile Moon environment and with themselves. A logical suspenseful story told in diary form and typical of Campbell’s editorial policy: Anatomy of Wonder, 4-139. Included in this volume is another story: The Elder Gods, which explores some of the possibilities latent in pure mentality. A very nice First edition with lots of charm. LOC FB-04
