About This Item
Mount and Stream Publishing Co. , 1912. Softcover. Very Good. June, 1912 issue of the elusive Mount and Stream Journal, Official Organ of the Hunters' and Anglers' Association of Pennsylvania. Includes many articles on fishing and hunting written by a variety of contributors, primarily active in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area at the turn of the century. Illustrated with historical photos, many of outdoor views, camping, fishing and hunting. The journal was also active in political matters, namely lobbying for no hunting license fees, no catch limits on fish, no seasonal restrictions on deer (one kill per year allowed) and otherwise wide open hunting for all. Notable articles in this issue include big wildcat killed, How fish are saved by hooks, Ducking on the Juniata, Wild ducks for decoys, A day's hunt at Elleysburg, A wild goose chase, Sherman's Valley in old Perry: An ideal retreat for a summer's outing, Speckled beauties and how to catch them, Marysville fish stories and many more. The first issue of the journal was published in March, 1911 and had mysteriously disappeared by 1914. Copies of the journal are ultra rare. Presently there are no copies listed for sale in commerce and no copies located in the WorldCat library database. None. 48 pp. Printed on coated paper. 9" x 6". Guaranteed original. Tight, unmarked copy with minimal shelf wear. An exceptionally presentable copy of a publication rarely if ever encountered. Photographs of or additional information about this item are available on request. All inquiries answered promptly.
