About This Item

Wymondham, Norfolk: H.G. Stone, [1961]. Standard UK Double Crown poster with 'boxing style' typography, advertising a provincial cinema's programme of films, to be shown in December 1961. Approx dimensions 20 x 30 inches, portrait format (will be despatched rolled, in tube). Folded condition, with a few creases and some edge tears; very good indeed. A striking and unusual vintage British cinema poster (as opposed to a film poster), advertising forthcoming screenings. This provides an insightful look at how then-current and older movies were shown or replayed at a small-town theatre in the 1960s. Pictures include; The Colditz Story (starring John Mills, 1955), Seven Thieves (Rod Steiger, 1960), Where The [Hot] Wind Blows (Gina Lollobrigida, 1959), The War of The Worlds (1953), The Miracle (Roger Moore, 1959), Trapeze (Tony Curtis, 1956), Red Garters (Rosemary Clooney, 1954), Party Girl (Cyd Charisse, 1958) and Macumba Love (1960).
